The UK Ministry of Defence has started integration of the Dual Mode Brimstone 2 missile on the Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft, awarding BAE Systems an $8.5 million (USD) study contract to begin an integration analysis. When fully integrated, the Typhoon will be able to carry 12 Brimstones on four launcher packs of three missiles each.

Brimstone 2 improves on the existing, combat-proven Dual Mode Brimstone with an expanded performance envelope, improved internal components, and the addition of insensitive munition (IM) rocket motor and warhead.

According to ADS Advance:

The Brimstone 2 weapon will add to the swing-role capability of the Typhoon aircraft. Brimstone 2 is effective against the most challenging, high speed and maneuvering targets over land and sea. as a low collateral, close air support weapon it is already combat proven in Afghanistan and Libya by the UK Royal Air Force.
